I have always thought (and still do) that racism is ignorant & imature. I will admit in my youth i have used racial slurs in a state of extreme anger against specific people just for the purpose of pushing thier buttons, and i knew it was wrong.
For those of you that don't know me, i have been working in Afghaniland for the last 15+ months. I am working for an Indian company as thier US NEC Electrical Supervisor. This experience has given me a WHOLE NEW UNDERSTANDING of racism. Most of the people i work with now are good people. However, last year at this time was a different story.
I have learned from being on the recieving end of some damn cruel racism just how deeply painful it really is. I have experienced everything from simple name calling, vandalism/theft of my property, sabotage of my work, and even attempts at causing me physical harm (falling just short of blatant assault). Unfortunately, racism is still very much alive in this part of the world. I hope to see the day when we have a planet full of human beings that are all equal.
Thanks for letting me vent. I just needed to open my relief valve for a minute.
Ride safe.
