I'm a new rider at the ripe age of 40.
When i was 14 i ripped around the paddock chasing cows with my country cousins, i could hardly hold up a 250cc bike then.
Just got my ticket at 40 and bought a V-star 250.
Here we have power to weight restrictions on new riders and you can go up to 650 if the weight is right, but i found the 250 forgiving enough for a new rider, a compromise between handling and comfort and enough pickup without leaving rubber on the road....

Welcome! I'm 30 and just became a rider. WooHoo for us late bloomers! The 250 is a good bike. Once you get your license and you're not looking for a BIG bike, but something manageable but with a BIG attitude, the 950 is perfect! It's my first bike and is a dream. It looks mean but handles great. Looks like it can move and...it can! It doesn't move like the bigger cc bikes, but it does enough. Check it out when you get the chance to move up to another class.
