Has anyone ever been successful changing a starter clutch?? I have it torn down to aligning the timing marks on the flywheel and the cam gear on the rear cylinder.I found some info online that said to make sure the timing mark on the lower cam gear is pointing at the crankshaft when the other 2 marks are lined up.I haven't been able to achieve this.the book doesn't mention the mark on the lower cam gear needing to point at the crankshaft.I have found TDC for the rear cylinder with the mark on the flywheel and the mark on the cam gear,and can feel the clearance on the rocker arms.
When the book shows the assembly portion of the job all the marks are in place in the pictures,but they don't seem to be at this point and I am nervous about taking it apart.
