Is it me or is this site loaded with tumble weeds....Ride hard stay safe...

I'm a newbie so forgive me if I've missed something but I haven't been able to access the photo gallery due to "maintenance" since joining. Not only would I like to see other Star bikes to get ideas for modding mine but I would also like to show off my 1100 Classic. What gives? When will this feature be available? Thanks for all the other great stuff...really enjoy the posts...just want pics!

I would recommend a seperate Model specific forum for each motorcylce.

Yes you have the Star thread and all that jazz but break it down further... 650, 950, 1100 and so on even with the R1 and R6 give each bike it's own world.

I just joined this forum after being a member of the Kawasaki Vulcan Forum. These sites look like they are almost identical in format. One thing I liked about the Kawasaki forum was they had a "Bike Of The Month" (BTOM) showcase forum for members motorcycles. Now I will say that after a while that there weren't that many entries per month, which doesn't have much competition with only one or two entries. But I think that it may be good to try something like this on a quarterly or bi-yearly basis so you would get enough entries for some good competition. This is just a good way for everyone to see what others are riding and to get an idea of what people's interest are in their rides and customization of them.
Just a thought.

Ok, I got a little ahead of my self on the last post, I see that you do have a BOTM, but it doesn't seem to be used as it probably was intended to. I am including a link for anyone to look at on the Kawasaki Vulcan Forum. I'm rs900c on this forum.

The moderator has to initiated the opening for entry of the monthly thread, this is when everyone can submit their entry. The moderator must close the entries near the end of the month and then opens polls (for about a week) for members to vote on which bike should win for that month. At the end, the winner is posted as the Bike of the Month winner until the next winner is posted. Then the BOTM from the last month goes into the BOTM Hall of Fame. You can only win once with that bike so there shouldn't be any duplicate winners.

A number of complaints were noted by purchasers of Cobra aftermarket pipes for the V-Star 1100. Specifically, the studs for fastening the stock pipes do not appear to be long enough to attach the Cobra pipe to the front cylinder exhaust studs--bottom line: the studs to not stick out far enough to comfortably screw on the retaining nuts for the collar on the aftermarket pipes. A number of fixes have included pulling the stock studs and putting on longer ones; changing the collar with one that matches the stock collar; relieving part of the collar that comes with the Cobra. However, the easiest fix has to do with the problem: The welding of the pipe where it enters the exhaust. A significant amount of weld bead is left on Cobra (and perhaps other pipes as well). This bead permanently impedes the collar from moving inboard to the designed position, wherein the weld bead was not accounted for in the design. Labree Motorsports.com solved the problem with a huge and hardened countersink. The collar is removed from the exhaust and the rear and in-board portion of the collar is countersunk. The collar is then reinstalled onto the front pipe. The countersunk collar is then found to be relieved sufficiently to fit beautifully over the weld bead. In turn, there are as a consequence of this relieving plenty of thread on the studs to allow full fastening of the front exhaust. Labree Motorsports is normally a custom shop for exhausts that require mandrel bending for automotive applications of all kinds. However, Brent Labree will accept the collars in person or by any mail method, pre-paid postage for $16.00 per collar. You could by your own countersink of the quality and size necessary to do the job, but such tool costs about $1,000. For an elegant solution that fixes the problem, the $16.00 plus two-way postage is a bargain.

Combine the engine tech section to the bike sections (In other words let people post about motor issues in the individual bike forums). If you make it one big forum there will be less confusion and people won't worry about not getting an answer from a less busy but related subforum.

With regard to where tech on engines are, I would prefer that they be bike specific: V-Star 1100 for example, but with that information all in V-Star 1100. That way it's easier to locate the data on one's own bike.

Two thoughts on this site so far...
1. What's the hold up on the gallery...would like to see pictures.
2. Need to separate "V Star" into sub-groups (650's, 950, 1100, 1300...)

Has anyone else done the following changes to their V-Star 1100: Predator Pro air kit; Cobra Speedster Slashdowns;Dynatek3000 ignition (for Cal. bikes); Powerbraidz baffles? -- zioo
PS: I've done this myself. Completed all but the, "stumble" test on the preparation. Bike sounds terrific and has new life and power. Runs well on mid-grade. The Powerbraidz are used alone in place of Cobra baffles. No one can believe the sound. 65 mph no problem in 2nd; just loves 2nd to 55 mph and front wheel gets light just after the shift-zioo

I'm just a junior member so to speak. I suspect the hold-up on the gallery is that there isn't time enough for the volunteers to get it done. I agree with you that the sites should be separated and joined with a choice by the owner. So if you want V-Star, you get all of them and if you want just V-Star 950 or 1100, for example, you can select that and that is all you will get--zioo
