Cool Aftermarket Air Filter

No mechanic here If I put on an aftermarket air filter that leaves the...uh pleats, fins, filter tabs or whatever there are called exposed, (for example a Baron Big kit) won't that attract more dirt and rain requiring the filter to be changed more often? Thanks in advance for the info.

i have the LA Choppers XXX air kit with complete 360 degree exposure. i've been caught in HEAVY rain numerous times and the bike has never so much as sputtered. as for cleaning, i believe the manufacturer recommends cleaning once per year which is on par of most bike air filters.

Bevo is correct, I have the same filter kit, I clean it once a year and have been caught in a few downpours without any issues. Difference in performance was significant for me.
