riddle me this

so i'm adjusting the belt tension on the 950 once again (long story), and i'm getting completely different tension on the same markings where it used to be at. so i was testing something out with the belt tension at about 3mm for a short period. then i loosened it back to the same markings i had it at before (at least i think) where it was at about 7mm. but this time the same position was giving me a tension of 15mm+. the only difference between now versus then was that i have applied some chain lube to my belt for lubrication. is it possible that the same markings/placement on the swingarms can give 2 very different amounts of tension, or am i just crazy because i was doing this at 4am this morning?

or belt is going soft and is tighter or looser depending on how its sitting on the pulleys....

At times like this I hold a hammer at eye level and open my hand
to see if the laws of physics have been repealed,
and I did not get the notice....
