Any Other Bike

If you could have any other bike you wanted what would it be and why? I mean a real bike not a fantasy one or concept one. A bike any Joe Blow with a little pocket money could get.

No matter where you go there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai

I'd want an R75/5 again but with the Euro tank like the one below, the toaster tank I had looked good but was limited. It was a simple, comfortable and reliable machine.

When I bought my new 1978 Yamaha IT175 enduro bike, this bike was also brand new and I looked at one at the dealer. It has the 500cc thumper engine from their motorcross bike.

Looking back I wish I had gotten the SR500 instead, because I did not get into street bikes until 5 years ago, and now I realize how much I missed out over the years.

But on the other hand the '78 SR500 had a weird counter balance shaft thing that tended to tear itself apart - So I dodged that bullet. They still make and sell them as the SR400. Would not mind having one at all - they have been in production since '78.

From my perspective a thumper UJM bike is the quintessential motorcycle.

this is the 2017 SR400 - except for electronic ignition & fuel injection, its nearly the same as it was in 1978

I loved the SR500 and SRX6. They were fantastic thumpers and made great inexpensive track bikes.

Ditto on the Road King, maybe a Honda CBX 6 cylinder.
