Maggie Valley Road Trip Photos

Well, Finally, been saying for some time I would post photos ... but forgot where ... *L*
Did a Maggie Valley solo trip for 3 days in August, was great.
Stayed at "A Holiday Motel" good people, gave towels and bucket to clean down the bike etc.
Photos are the Blue Ridge Parkway, also a few in a national park.
Yes, I know, way to many mountain photos, couldnt help myself, had to wear a coat at 5000 foot elevations!

Here is the slide show of the August trip on the V Star 1300...

Earlier in June I did a 3 day trip to Deals Gap (Tail of the Dragon) on my Suzuki C-50. It was an awesome trip, my first solo trip, was just great. Stayed at the Two Wheel Inn, with your own personal garage next to your room to keep your bike in.

Thanks ... and ... I ran into quite a few bikers on the first trip. 2 from Nova Scotia ( I was amazed they traveled so far) and quite a bit were from Ontario too.

You could have done the trip in two days if ou had not taken so many mountain pic. Thanks for posting your tour. I liked it.

My feet on the pegs and lots of time to go where the road leads.

*L* Your soooo right and I got a laugh out of this one!
Ah ... what the heck, was solo, no schedule, plenty of time, didnt have to be anywhere or account to anyone, truly was a relaxing trip.
Except for deciding what photos to keep and deleting the other 50 or so photos I took when I got back!
Digital cameras are great, but sometimes I wish for the old days of film. Where you took a few photos, sent them to get developed and you were done. Seems like more work now a days.

how far in advance did you have to reserve your room? when i went last year to the tail, i think someone said rooms start getting booked at least 3 months in advance

You will almost get a laugh out of this one but I booked my room, maybe a few days in advance, I wanted to be sure the weather was going to be nice. Two Wheel Inn was not crowded AT ALL. I did book my stay there for a Wed and Thursday night though. The comments were the Tail was not all that busy during that week, I can confirm that, when I rode the Tail at 11 Am ish in the morning, really werent many people on it at all. IN fact my worst fears never came close to being true, felt like I have the whole road to myself, again, I think I just got lucky with the time and date.
Keep in mind I did not stay at Deals Gap, Deals Gap is really the start of the Dragon, seems like a cool place to stay, Two Wheel Inn is 10 miles(?) down the road in "Town"
I can see Deals Gap being booked all the time.

OK i got them mixed up. i was thinking about Deal's Gap. was there near the end of October last year on a Monday or Tuesday when they said how early you have to book your room. we rode the tail frontwards and backwards in the afternoon and it was relatively busy both times.

unnerving having crotch rockets ride up on you and then speed past on the short straightaways. i would call them idiots, but if they can take the tail as fast and reckless as they do and not crash, they must have skills. i'll go ahead and call them idiots anyway because cars drive down that road as well and sometimes they drift over the middle so you can still wreck even if you're in your own lane because of that.
