Almost dumped my bike today..simple thing to keep an eye out for.

I rode my bike to the bank today. I pulled in and was circling the building, which was just built this year so its all new.

As I was rounding the corner in the parking lot, leaning right, all of a sudden my front tire fell left hard. I had the sensation of falling and thought I was about to eat asphalt. Suddenly my front tire had traction and it grabbed.

No I was not on the front break.

It was a 2' wide tar spot. It wasnt thin, but around 1.5" thick and in the sun it was like gel. When my tire hit it it slid off over a foot to the left.

I walked over and took my foot and touched it and it moved and left my tread pattern in the surface four about 20 seconds before it faded away.

In all my years of riding, I have never had this happen...so thats my warning, watch out for huge tar spots.

I took some pics and will upload them shortly.

WOW! Glad you're alright. Thanks for the post. That makes tar snakes look pretty tame. Augie

I'm always working very diligently to discover the obvious.

Garage
Dang, glad you didn't drop it and were able to take a few pics. How soon are you going to share them with the branch manager?
