Chopper style sissy bars are they for looks or what?

Im a new rider but no stranger to modifying things. As of right now I have pulled off and repainted the rear fender and tank. Ditched the front fork covers. Removed AIS and J-slammed my 650. 10" mini apes and working on getting some exhaust made.

I want to run the full length rear classic fender with a passenger seat. I have the stock seat and sissy bar. I was trying to figure out something that looks better than stock but can function as actual rear seat support.

Question do these style sissy bars actually support peoples weight or is just for looks:

Also whats your guys opinion on back seats which ones do you prefer? Or should I just take it on and off as needed?

My brother has one of those sissy bars on his bike. It's to easy to strap things to it such as a backpack. It's not very comfortable for use as a backrest but it can hold a persons weight. My brother usually ties a towel or something soft to it when his girlfriend rides with him.

I really dig this type of bar but nothing like this is made for our bikes...not to mention it looks strong enough to handle a passenger.

Anyone got anything like this for a 650 v star??
