Neutral light on all the time

Hi all,
the neutral light on my 01 V-Star is on permanently,
I put a new (oem) switch in but no luck.
I then took it to the auto electrician and he can't find the problem.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Any help would be much appreciated

I had this problem on my Triumph Bonneville. Turned out that I had pinched the neutral switch wire under the engine / drive cover when working on the bike and shorted it to the frame.

Thanks chedobean,
I think your right when you say it's shorting out,
I have just checked the switch wire and I haven't pinched it anywhere, I have taken the wire off the switch and earthed it to the frame and there is a relay that clicks,
the auto electrician tells me the relay is working properly.
Any other thoughts would be great.

Did the light go out when you unplugged the wire from the switch?
Does the neutral light come on and off as you short the wire to the frame?
If so that would indicate a faulty switch?
