Gah! Exhaust popping.

So when I bought this Palomino...I completely tore the carbs down and replaced everythingggg. So they were all good to go. I did notice when I had it all done up about 10 months ago tho that the left side popped a bit. Eh I brushed it off. I let it sit for a bit since I acquired another 96 Royal Star. Recently I took it out...the popping got to me so I trouble shot the crap outta it...even tore the number one carb apart because thats where its coming from. Re dipped the carb, re assembled and still...same popping. Synced, tuned correctly to 3 turns out...checked everywhere on carbs and exhaust with carb cleaner for vacuum leaks and nothing. So.......I thought, take the vacuum port cap off and see what happens. It completely stopped popping. What does that mean?

Oh and it's a negative vacuum meaning its pulling in air when I put my finger to it.

Figured what it was...Im running straight pipes on it now and the pilot screw had to be re adjusted. 5 turns out and they all purred. Fixed.

Garage
by enriching the mixture the pipes run cooler and the popping stops but you will also see a drop in mpg sometimes a lot
