Q. about salvage parts

Looking for a website that might offer used bike parts.

Is there such a thing as a motorcycle salvage yard?

I recently purchased an 05 Royal Star Tour Deluxe and would like to replace a few things. Maybe even add a few items : )

There are several on ebay. Here's one: http://stores.ebay.com/PinWall-Cycle...p2047675.l2563

2008 ROAD STAR

2008 KAWASAKI KLR 650

2014 Triumph Tiger 800 XC

Never run out of traction, ideas, and real estate at the same time.

There is a motorcycle salvage yard here in SF but it probably won't do you much good out in Ohio I'm sure there is one in the general area of you (like a nice long day ride).

Edit: a very quick internet search shows yards in Cleveland, Dayton, Chippewa Lake and Bethel.... and that's just the first few entries...

'06 VStar 1100 Classic - black with ghost flames!
Cobra sissy bar and luggage rack
National Cycle windshield
National Cycle quick release hardbags
Lindby engine guard
Driving lights mounted to engine guard

More to come when I save enough cash!

I used to live near Chippewa Lake. It's a beautiful place to ride. Road Trip!

If you can share how you searched for the salvage yards, or share the names you came up with that would be helpful. I didn't find a whole lot when I searched. Hoping to find a few more internet parts places. Yes, CA would be a nice looong ride. I haven't traveled much in my lifetime. I am afraid I would find a place along the way I enjoyed more than Ohio, and never return.

I went to google and typed "motorcycle salvage yard ohio"

Bethel: http://www.racersedge411.com/
Cleveland: http://www.clevelandcycle.com/
Columbus: http://www.ricepaddy.com/
Akron: Manuel's Motorcycles and Salvage - Ebay store but no website. Address: 922 E Tallmadge Ave, Akron, OH 44310 Phone: (330) 634-9800

That should be enough to get you started. If they don't have the parts/bikes you need they will know about other yards in the area. Good luck scrounging!

Thank you M'Lady.
If I am scrounging, that makes me a scrounge...but, I don't feel like a scrounge : (
But, it is what it is : ) LOL! So, I do what I can afford to do to improve the condition of the bike and stay on the road.
Ya know my, new to me, bike is nearly 10 years old.

scrounged, scrounging:
  • to manage to get or find by hunting around
ie: not intended as an insult in any way

I could have REALLY confused you and talked about fossiking around in the yards
