Question Battery

Had my bike on a tender over the winter. Took the tender off fired it up and went for a 3 hour ride. Parked the bike in my heated garage but didn't put it on the tender. Weather got cold so I didn't ride for a week. Went to start the bike and the battery was dead. Hmmmmmm

I was talking to a couple of cycle riders (Gold-Wing and a Harley riders) and they said that once a battery drains the first time all the way it will only recharge back up to 75% approximately and less after that. I had to replace mine after it died this past weekend. Not sure how true that is but not knowing how old the battery was (2009 V-Star) I bit the bullet and bought a new battery at auto-zone. $102 after core charge here in GA.
