2006 Stratoliner - D and D Exhaust

I purchased D and D Slip-on this week, arrived today. It took 30 minutes or so to install. The only issue I had was removing the stock gasket because the D and D's will not fit with a gasket in place. Otherwise, it was very simple.

I am attaching videos with and without the baffle for your viewing pleasure. The D and D instructions for removing the baffle were a bit ridiculous. After about 5 minutes of consideration, I decided to use a small flat pry bar and liberal amounts of WD40. I hooked the bent end in the baffle and it easily slid out. It's as long as the exhaust so it's feels a bit like a clown show, but easy nonetheless.

Videos.

And if anyone cares to tell me how to embed Youtube vids, I'd thank you.

Just out of curiosity, any difference in performance after you removed the baffle?

Nothing that I can detect. There is a little more popping on decel, but not enough for me to be concerned.

Thanks, I was curious. I was going to assume you may have a bit more popping on decel, but it did sound good.

Thanks!! After buying an 11 year old bike with 5000 miles, I've put almost 800 on her in a month and I am not disappointed!

A little more info for you guys considering D and D slip ons.

I rode about 75 miles without the baffles and it's unpleasant at high speeds. I decided to test with a decibel meter and this is what I found.

Without Baffles:
Idle - 98dB
2000 RPM - 110dB

With Baffles (and this surprised me).
Idle - 101dB - Yep, with baffles the Stratty achieves a higher dB
2000 RPM - 104 dB

But overall, it's just a cleaner and deeper sound with less popping on decel. The baffles are back in to stay.
