Avon Cobras. Rear tire used up in 8,500 miles. After 13,000 miles the front tire is getting replaced, this weekend, with another Avon Cobra. The rear now has a 215/60r17 Conticontact car tire, good for 30,000 miles.

I am on my second set of Bridgestones, that is what came on the bike. First set went 13000 and just at 7000 on the second. Back tire was almost bald when I put on the second set, front tire might have had a little left. Back is showing wear at 7000 now.

Fat Strat, how is that car tire working? Corners ok? Ride ok?

Fitz.

I just ordered the Dunlop D407 and D408 for my bike. On anolther forum a guy told me he got 19000 from the 408 and over 10000 on the 407. They say Harley Davidson on the sidewall I understand but I don't think any one will notice.

Yea, it's okay. It does give you different feedback in turns. It is something that you have to get used to. More handlebar input is required than with a M.C. tire.

I studied up on car tires on the "Dark Siders" web site so I knew what to expect. There is a period of adjustment, maybe a week or two. After 9,000 miles... the car tire, now, feels perfectly normal. If I ever go back to a M.C. tire...I'll probably have to go through the same process, in reverse.

Will I put another one on after this one wears out? Yes I will.
