AIS plates for Strat / Liner

Excuse my limited exposure to the Star line of bikes. Not a current owner but I've really been researching up on the Strat's as of late.

One thing I've seen in my searches of exhaust clips and forum comments is a bit of popping in the exhaust,,,

This 'popping' is a very common issue with my current make and model of bike and it's PAIR air injection system,,,

We disable the PAIR, stop the pop,,,

In researching this potential aspect of an AIS /PAIR system being used on the big Yami mill, I've run into some discrepancies,,,

Most addvertising for the Strat describe an Air Induction System, while some forum folks indicate no such thing exists,,,

Odder still, 'older' (?) Barons Stealth air kits used to include AIS block off plates, but now the 'new' (?) kits don't. (see attched pic w/ 2 'oval' block off plates in the bottom of the picture,,, Barons kit # 1010-0759, listed for use on 06 and up Strat / Liner,,,)

So, what's the real skinny here? What say yea, O Masters of the Stars???? IAS, or 'no such thing???'

Ais

Houston,

I don't believe the Liner has a AIS (Air Injection System.) Not sure but your Air induction system may refer to the air intake to the throttle bodies. There are kits to open up the intake and allow more air into the engine. Air injection injects a littel air into the exhaust to help burn off gas. The liner has a cataleptic converter. When we reduce back pressure and allow more air through poping becomes more common.

Often the cure is to run the engine a littel richer. My Liner has very little poping, the small amount I have I don't worry about. I even like it. I think people worry about it too much myself.

Don't know what PAIR is.

PAIR is short for Pulsed AIR injection,,, Honda's way of adding air to the exhaust to 'burn off' unburnt hydrocarbons,,, The small popping noises we (VTX riders) hear are a result of the added oxygen combining with unburnt fuel and 'igniting/exploding',,, They sell PAIR block off plates and it fixs 95+% of the 'popping',,, Here is one example:

The sites that I viewed that indicated the Strat / Liner has AIS all word it exactly the same, down to the letter:

• Air Induction System (AIS) injects fresh oxygen at the exhaust port to insure complete combustion thereby reducing harmful exhaust emissions (HC & CO) while a special air cut valve reduces backfiring when decelerating or coasting off throttle.
