Smile Speedstar exhaust crossover leak solved

I bought a used set of Speedstar long straights from eBay in as new condition. They look beautiful, but leaked at the crossover causing backfiring, and that annoying leak sound under acceleration. I tried twice to seal the leak with zero success. Well I finally had enough, and took the rear pipe off, and drove a 1 1/8" freeze plug into the hole on the front pipe. I than cut the crossover off the rear pipe And drove a 1" freeze plug into that hole. Than I tack welded both to insure they never move and sealed both seams with high temp silicone. Problem solved! It had gotten where I hated riding my bike, and really didn't want to trash these pipes as I love the look. Now I know why they were so cheap to buy, but I win, they look great and now they sound great too!
