Question Handle bars

Has anyone changed their bars? What size bar is needed (1.25"? I think). And does anyone know the width, rise, and pullback on the stock bars? or can someone tell me the proper way to take these measurements?
I'm looking for pictures (profile) with different bars mounted on the Roadliner/Stratoliner too.

Hey Chris. Flanders makes a set 1.25" bars that are 3" narrower and 3.5" more pullback than the original bars. Just got mine and they will make a big difference. Just waiting for the cables and hoses. I got the bars from phatperformanceparts.com.

When you get them installed, are you going to post a pic? I would like to see a profile and a shot from the Rear to get a better idea of the width and how high the bars are off the tank.

Cool Liner handlebars

You will have to change the cables and hoses, make them longer. I'm waiting for them now. The stock bars are 1.25" diameter, 8"high, 14" pullback, 7.5" center and 36.5" wide. The Flanders bars are 1.25" diameter, 8" high, 17.5" pullback, 6.5" centerand 33.5" wide. Flanders part # is 652-28785, same # for phat performance. I have test fitted the bars and they will be great. I will be able to sit upright and not have to lean foward when riding. I had to put 6" longer cables and hoses on. I went with braided. Barons makes a set of risers the will move the handle bars back about 2" and raise the bars 1" and you can use the stock lins and cables. I really did not like the stock bars because they are too wide for me. When everything is installed I will post a picture for ya.

I got the Barons pullback risers and love them. I never really thought about new bars but that does make sense that narrower would help also. The stock lines part is correct but you need to take the front brake cable out of the clip and I have used a zip tie to attach it to the clip. Can't tell it since I have put on the Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing.

Cool liner handlebars

I thought about the risers but the bars were still wider than I like. I am almost finished with installing the bars. I need to put the head light back together and bleed the brakes and clutch. Yamaha did it right. I did not have to lengthen the wiring. There was plenty of wire. I had to make the holes larger in the Flanders bars to get the wires with the plugs attached inside the new bars. I will be posting pictures when it is finished.

Got the bars on. The hardest part was enlarging the holes for the internal wiring. The stock bar holes are large enough to pull out the wires with the plugs attached. I made the holes the same size as stock bars. Used a Dremel with cutting discs, 10 min each. The wiring is long enought so you don't have to splice any wire. I had to take out a bracket and wire ties in the switch housings on the bars and get rid of the locating pin so they would mount on the bar. I installed cables and hoses that are 6" longer than stock and worked out good, plenty long enough. Chris, send me an email to:
[email protected] and I'll send back the pictures I took.
