Is Irma's modifyable as it seems to be?

Hey all. Just want to as, is the raider that much more modifyable and cheap to maintain than a Vic or HD? Is it really worth it pocketbook wise and in the long haul? Talking to you all with thousands of miles on your raiders here. Just wondering what kind of money pitfalls to expect later in life.

Thanks and keep the rubber side down!

Re: Is Irma's modifyable as it seems to be?

Yeah that's what i thought too, but after having a sportster and trying to find parts for it, I found out its harder and more expensive. There seems to be more sites dealing with metrics than HD for parts, OEM and otherwise. Unless I'm looking at the wrong places (Google searching), I don't think I can find as much as for it unless I go to the dealers... Do you know something I dont? Lol.

Re: Is Irma's modifyable as it seems to be?

Really though, I am worried about the difference in cost down the line. HD seems to be VERY expensive (name maybe?) when it comes to repairs and upkeep, even with the bulletproof evolution motor. I understand nothing is really 'cheap', but looking at cost comparisons for how much one breaks down more than another. It seems from reading the HD breaks down a lot on the road, so just wondering if anyone with a raider has had many problems after thousands of miles on their 1900's. Also HD seems to need to have work done on the engine/tranny every 20k miles because of the chain and wear points. Any issues after 20k on the metrics besides the usual wear of pads, bulbs, tires, oil and filters and such?

Thanks for the input!

There are more marketable custom parts for the HD because owners are always in the position to:

I guess while I'm fixing "this" I might as well add a "that".

And "that" would only add about an extra grand to "this" $1.5k fix, and save a few hundred on the installation through HD mechs. Not a "bad deal" if you got a few grand laying around for it, I guess.
