Only idles

I have a v star 650 custom 05 that was running good till in the middle of a ride it started to run ruff and now it will idle with choke or without choke on though it's a little better with it on but stumbles and stalls if you give it any gas. I pulled the carbs and cleaned the jets check for vacuum leaks including the intake boots with no luck. Earlier the summer I replaced the stator and rectifier so that checks out good still. I did pull the plugs and they are clean and dry. I am usually pretty good mechanical but currently baffled. Any ideas?

Yup full float bowls I was thinking accelerator pump but the I hear the stars don't have one. Thought that was odd but I can't locate one in the parts diagram.

you should never give it any throttle during startup, causes the tps to advance spark and can ruin starter clutch .which is a very costly repair.keep idle at 1000 rpms.best advice on cleaning pilot jets is removal and use a wire thru the holes.

I'm guessing on your problem because I'm just not there, but here's a similar problem that was solved on these forums last year.

https://www.starbikeforums.com/forums...ead.php?t=8048

Seems like it's worth a peek.

There are also two diaphragms on the parts diagram. One looks like it's for a needle valve, the other looks like an accelerator pump. I am NOT familiar with these carbs at all. I'm just trying to keep things bumped until someone who knows better chimes in.

Here's series of videos for your exact model if you have some spare time: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL48404C6B7E5374E8

I don't know. From here it sounds like needle jets aren't coming off the seat like maybe a blown diaphragm, no vacuum, dirt, varnish, etc. like what you've already looked for. You said the plugs were clean and dry, too.

Ok still messing with this thing. Got it back together after fidgeting with this and that and seem a little better but it still won't consistently rev up unless I put my hand over the air filter hole and and monitor the airflow with my hand
