2002 VStar 650 Classic - Clutch options

I'm looking to get my son a new clutch for his bike for Christmas.

The bike is at stock power levels and has over 30k on it. We've adjusted the lever to where it has about a nickel thickness of play. It seems to engage/disengage fine, but under heavy acceleration the clutch looses its grip.

In the opinion of experienced VStar owners... would it be recommended to get new stock disks and reuse the springs, new stock disks & springs, new stock disks & upgraded springs, or upgrade both disks & springs?

I am probably over thinking this, but I want to get parts that will keep him on the road for a while.

I wonder if its just the type of oil are you using motorcycle oil? Anyway stock disks should be fine no need for springs unless they are damaged

2008 V-Star Silverado 1100. K&N filter, airbox mod passenger floor boards, all light visors, ISO grips, Cobra slash cut mufflers, Saddleman touring seat/ tourpack. Lots of little extras.

When the oil was changed we used motorcycle specific oil.
