Starter not shutting off after starter clutch replacement

My starter clutch went out, I replaced that. Now it turns the engine over and starts but it sounds as though the starter is not turning off and is winding up really high. The engine is running really rough and dies within a few seconds and the starter stops.

Is it possible it could be related to a low battery voltage since ive been working at starting it so long? Starter relay maybe? Bad starter even though it turns the engine over?

Dare I mention. Jacked up starter clutch installation?

Any ideas on this one?

I hate dealing with electrical issues, so I feel your pain. The starter not shutting off is a symptom of a possible bad starter relay. It's such an easy swap and cheap fix...that's where I would start. Amazon sells them. Someone with a lot more electrical knowledge may have a different recommendation. Good Luck!
