Tire Question

Hello. My 2014 950, came with Brigstone Excedra 721 & 722. They are to my surprise, bias ply. Will my wheels take radials? When I change tires, I like to go with Commander II's.

the short answer is yes, you can put radial tires on a motorcycle, and there is nothing unique about a motorcycle design that requires it to have bias or radial tires.

The long answer is that radial tires are the standard for racing bikes. You may or may not like having radial tires on a touring / cruiser bike.

If you google the subject there are many web sites that explain the differences between the two on a motorcycle. You could spend hours reading about it.

i would recommend radials for the 950. it's my understanding that bias ply tires make more sense for heavier, touring bikes because they have a stiffer sidewall that better handles more weight with less flex.

I'm running the avon radial tires on my bike. I am not sure the avon is what I like, but the fact they are radial tires like all the other bikes I am used to.

I'm on my third set of commander II. Over 22k miles on first two sets on an 1100. Love the ride and mileage.
