Rev Limiter??

just bought an 03 roadstar xv1600a do these bikes
have rev limiters cause when I get on it in first or second
gear it will reach a high RPM and then kinda putter out a little
bit, been riding a crotch-rocket most of my life so Im not very
familiar with V-Twins, bought it used from a dealer so I dont really
know if it was jetted, It does have stock pipes though.

Yes it does have a REV limiter. Be forewarned that a lot of people will Rag you for the comparison of the R* to a crotch rocket (that is in performance). Some change the belt pulley to get better out the hole. Ride that bike the way you wont to. The RPM limiter can be change but this bike is a big lugging low RPM's motor (under 5000 I think?) with nothing to gain at the top end of the RPM's.

Runamuck,

Here is a link to some dyno charts. If you have a tach on your bike you can see the rev limiter is much lower than your sport bike. You wil be able to see where to shift. You will get used to the sound and shift automaticly after a while.

I also recently bought an 03 silver edition Road* and I love it!! I also had a supersport (Kawasaki ninja zx-6R) and switched to the big V-twins. I ride the bad boy everyday and I love it. I was also experiencing the sluggish putter at a higher end rev, but from what I am reading I was pushing it past its rev limit. I was so use to getting those RPMs up and feeling the sweet torque from my ninja. Now the torque is at a lower RPM and I feel the power pull sooner. With Vance & Hines straight pipes on my R* it feels and sounds awesome. The wife loves it too, which is the reason why I got a cruiser (other great reasons why I got a R*) and she loves it. We spend every weekend in the summer cruising around MN!
