Broken Highway Light Bar

We had some great weather in St. Louis yesterday. About 30 min. into my ride the light bar dropped to the front fender! The dam light bar broke off. It was just hanging there by the wires. Fortunately I had some parachute cord in the saddle bag to tie it up for the trip home. It appears the quality of the weld between the bar and mounting bracket wasn't first rate. Not much penetration at all. I've disconnected the wires from the headlight bucket and stripped the wires out of the bar. My plan is to re-weld it and hopefully get the bar/bracket re-chromed. I wonder what a minimum charge for chroming is. Have many of you experienced this problem?

A broken OEM light bar does seem to be a common problem for the Road Star.
