Best solvent for baked on gear oil

I have baked on gear oil on the mating surfaces of the middle drive gear cover and the internal surface it attaches to. What is the best solvent to remove the baked on oil?
TIA

I use liquid wrench and let it sit for awhile to penetrate, then I wipe it off.
