Fuel leaking from accelerator plunger

A few day ago I started having problems with starting my road star in the morning. I also smelled fuel . On further observation I noticed fuel seeping out of the accelerator plunger on the side of the carb . Has anyone come across that issue ?

I actually just came across this issue on a HD Sportster. Exactly what you described. It turns out there is a diaphragm that is located in the accelerator pump that can tear. I would recommend you start there.
