'09 Roadstar...Deal ?

Good day all, Dealer has a leftover 09 Roadstar 1700 . I have an04 V star with 35k that seems to be chugging along just fine.
How do they compare - Belt vs shaft...1100 vs 1700 ? seems to be a decent price (less than 8k) but does the 6 yrs old new bike scare anybody.
Any Roadie owner with a good or bad opinion?
thanks

Never rode a VStar 1100 . I came from a C50 to a S83 to a VStar 1300 and now a 2013 Road Star S . I prefer the Road Star over all these , but I think they were all good bikes. Bought my 2013 last year brand new for $7999 plus tax , shipping and dealer prep all of which tacked another grand I think. I traded the Vstar and paid cash. Some people would shy away from a bike that sat that long but I`m not one of them. Belt drive from what I`ve heard transfers the power to the wheel more efficient . I find the Road Star just as easy operate as any of the other bikes on my list.

I had a Vstar 650 before my Road Star I liked the Vstar. I love the Road Star. It is a lot bigger and takes a little while to feel comfortable but once you do it is awesome.

I'd love to get my hands on a new old stock FI Roadstar. There is nothing wrong with the age of that bike.

I bought my leftover 2009 in Sept of 2013 for 9K.
I would make sure it has NEVER had gas in it.
Dealer replaced my fuel system under warranty after old gas clogged everything up.
Neither of us noticed it prior to purchase.
