Quick release windshield from yamaha

Good day , eh. Just wondering about the windshields from Yamaha, the quick release ones! Witch one do you get, or how do you size one for yourself? I am 6' 1" 240 pounds, which one do I get. It's going to be a "G" note with taxes for one and I want to get the right one! Found a Switch Blade one on line for $250. But the guys got two shields. He only got one monting hardware kit, and the Switch Blade web site says the shield are hardware dependant. He does know which shield goes with the hardware kit. So as per my ride I want the quick release, for the easy off / on solution. Is the Yamaha the one to get and what size tall -wide or the ??? Any help will be good . I got 2005 Road Star 1700.
Thanks
Jamie

Jamie did you look into getting a fairing instead of a windshield? Memphis shades has one that is quick disconnect and I'm sure other manufacturers have them also. I have a friend in North Bay that has one and she just loves it.

2009 Stratoliner S

A few things added and more stuff to follow

Jamie, Corsair is correct. I recently put a Memphis shades batwing fairing on my 950t. It came with the quick release bracketry. Easy installation with hand tools, and it goes on and off in less than two minutes. I'm very pleased with it. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the response , I will look into it. But right nowy jets are cooled! The wife went to Florida for the March break, and I told her when she was in Toronto that I bought the bike. bOY is she P O! I went out to a disturbs tot and bought a new hermit and leather jacket , one "G" note later I was out of the store. Then I went to the Yamaha Dealership and picked up a quick release sissy bar kit , and another $800.
She will be home in a week ....??? And I want to live so I can ride. Have not seen any dead man driving lately.
I interduce my self in the other forum title last week and one of the gentalmen sujested I take the passanger seat off! Well I am going to leave it on and get a neon sign that say "VACANCY ". Why do they have or ruin all the fun.
So the windshield is out!
But there is alway next year.

Jamie,

If you havent already you will want to join the roadstarclinic.com. Besides it being the best place for info on the Road Star there is also a thread called "pay it forward" where members give away unused parts from their bikes for nothing more then the shipping. Last year I gave away my stock Silverado windshield. You might be able to find one on there.

I have a Memphis Batwing on my '06 and it fits and looks sweet. I took the Yamaha Silverado Tall quick disconnect windshield off mine. What a difference it made

Well i needed something on the front so i decided to go with the OEM windsheild...(the wife decided, I wanted to go of a Reckless , custom paint job and stereo , plus ,plus). to keep the peace I order the quick release from the dealership. Up here in Canada they told me they were back ordered for a month and a 1/2! I canceled my order and ordered from Amazon.com.

From the dealership it was going to be $500.00 for the tall quick release windshield and $170.00 for the mounting kit. Got both parts from Amazon landed here which included , 20% exchange rate, shipping , Dutie (everyone know we hare free trade with the USA) for $520.00!!!

I though i made out alright. got a shield on the bike. Drove the bike the next day and took it up to 120 km. ( want to be able to get up to at least 140km, for some of the big HWYs in Toronto) was not all that satisfied with it. Still felt like the front end was getting pushed and pulled around. There is no adjustment for mounting the shield so I got what i got. I have crash bars on the bike so can not put the side wind deflectors on.

When you say "what a difference the bat wing made " I really can understand that. Wish I went that way.

Thanks for your input, and I wanted to reply so others will know this in the future!!!
