Saying good-bye to Yamaha

Sadly, after owning 3 Road Stars, 1 RoadLiner and a Warrior, I am saying "good-bye" to Yamaha. My last new RoadStar, a Midnight Edition, still covered under Factory Warranty, developed an engine rapping noise (believed to be lifters) at around 6k miles. The rap had gotten so loud that, for me, it took all the fun out of riding the bike. For 3 months I tried to get Yamaha to acknowledge the noise and make the repair to the bike. My complaint escalated all the way up to the District Rep. who said..."yes I hear the problem, but Yamaha states that this noise is considered "normal"". Normal my ass! None of my other Yamaha engines in this same engine family ever sounded like this, and all of those had way more than 6k miles on them. So, my thanks goes out to Yamaha for their "no customer service". They will NOT be getting any more of my business.

Saying good-bye to Yamaha

I know how you feel. I had a safety recall with my bike four yrs ago. I live in Canada and bought a U.S. bike here from a reputable motorcycle shop so I found out here on this forum that my 1300 and year had a faulty fuel line safety issue. I went to the closest Yamaha dealership and they wouldn't help me unless I paid for the recall because it wasn't a Canadian bought bike. My response was screw that it's a "safety recall" and all recalls are done free of charge to the customer. I don't care if its made in Canada or in the USA its a Yamaha motorcycle- fix it. I was then told to call Yamaha canada and Yamaha USA so this went back and forth for some time no one wanted to take care of my problem I couldn't believe the bs. So long story short where I originally bought the bike they fixed the "safety recall" without charging me. I know how frustrating it can be when no one listens or doesn't want to help😡
