2009 950 tourer monoshock question

I'm the 3rd owner and the bike has just hit 30k. I bought it June of 2017. My wife has started riding with me and I'm thinking about adjusting the spring. The tool kit doesn't have the additional wrench for adjusting the shock so I'll have to get something.

I was checking where the shock was set and couldn't help but notice that the area around had a dry road grime (no surprise) but the shock had a wet, oily, grimy coating. That combined with the 30K does it mean this shock is worn out and its time for a replacement?

i'm not sure what those symptoms indicate, but in all my years spent on various online forums i don't believe i've ever read of a single 950 owner needing to replace their shock.
