650 idles but cuts out on throttle

My sister also has a 650 and this is the first time she started it up this year. It idles fine but cuts out when she gives it throttle. I am thinking we need to clean the carbs?

I agree that the carbs most likely need to be cleaned but also check the fuel flow at the line that feeds the carbs.

you could try running 4 ounces of seafoam thru the bike in a full tank of new gas

unless the bike will not run at all except at idle.

you can remove the carb bowl covers with the carbs mounted, remove the pilot jets and clean them with a thin wire, you will need to file the point down on a number 2 phillips to get it to fit tightly in the screws, the brass screws are japanese industrial standard or ( JIS ) you need to get that bit to fit tight or the screw head will strip out , once you get a snug fit give it a sharp rap and the screw will spin right out. when you do get the jet out you'll see just how tiny the holes are and understand why they clog up. a grain of salt would block that hole
