650 project bobber-esque

Well, thought I would post up here instead of continuing my thread in the new member section.
Bought a new (to me, but might as well be new with only 3600kms on it) v star 650. Decided to make it into a bit of a project bike.
First thing I did was tear down the bike and rebuild the carbs. Rode it like that for a bit, and then decided it needed more of a rumble, so did the 4 hole mod, as new pipes are out of the budget right now.
Today I was scouring the local Facebook marketplace, and came across the cheapest brand new bars ever. The original owner of the bars never used them. Bought them from amazon and decided it wouldn’t fit his project. So $25 later I got some knock off keystones. Installed super easy with no cable mods, and oh boy do they change the look of the bike.
Here are a few pics, and I’ll keep this thread updated as I go along. Next mod is to shave the factory seat to better fit my behind. On the list is also; smaller signals, AIS delete, bar end mirrors, new shorter levers, GAK and re jet, and eventually new pipes
As for levers, does anyone know where I can get some sport bike looking ones? (The adjustable dial kind. Short, black, and would look WAY better on those bars)

Very nice! I considered a pair of those myself when I got my small apes, but could only get fairly narrow ones, too narrow for the Roadie.

Can't really help you with your questions, however, as I am in Europe.

Kind regards, Wim

Thanks Wim!
They are fairly narrow, but that’s the way I like my bikes. They are just wider than the tank, and once I add bar end mirrors, then it will still be more narrow than my pegs. I’m going for a lane splitter/bobber type look. Want to maintain a 2up style, but make it as bare bones and slim as possible.

Thanks. They definitely are a little unique. My bar end mirrors should be in by Wednesday, so can’t wait for those. Next thing is to shave the seat down, I really want to sit lower in the saddle, especially when I’m keeping the passenger pillion. Just had a sissy bar custom made that I have to pick up this week as well. Gotta have something to strap a bag to for grocery runs, etc. Thinking of adding a swing arm bag too, instead of a shady cover.

Installed my bar end mirrors, and test fit my custom sissy bar. Need to paint it up and it’s good to go. Also my seat is shaved down as well. It’s coming along nicely.
