Need help

I just bought a 2013 V Star 950. It’s missing the side cover. Any idea on what the correct name or part number this thing is? Sorry, I’m new to Yamaha. I might have a few questions once I start digging around on the bike.

Make sure you see a picture or drawing of the part before you buy one. That football shaped thing on the engine is not what is normally referred to as "the" side cover.

"The side cover" is normally the panel that covers the battery on one side, and the tool storage box on the opposite side under the seat. The thing circled in your photo is an engine cover that is unique to the 950.

Yeah, they showed both types and called them both side covers. One was the chrome bicycle helmet thingy that's unique to the 950s.

Nice. At least the prices on the stock one isn't bad (from what I saw) so at least it won't cost a fortune.

it's a coil cover. covers the ignition coils.

https://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oem...fb5/side-cover

you could either replace it with stock or do something creative. i replaced mine with a black bear skull.
