Float adjustment using factory tool

So I'm going to perform the factory float adjustment using the factory tool. What I notice is the instruction are to mount the carbs on the bike. But on this v star 1100 custom this puts the cards at slightly different .

if I'm going to check the float level while the carburetors are on the bike do I adjust the bike position so both carbs sit at an equal angle?

When adjusting the float level do you allow gravity to feed the carburetors with fuel or do you turn on the fuel pump to apply pump pressure ?

Thanks

Bike must be level as per manual. Carbs must be full of fuel. I would energize pump to fill bowls and then turn key off.

I've had great success with using the bench method. Google it for some good videos, too much to type.
