Passing lamps not coming on

My 07 1300 has a Yamaha light bar with passing lamps and signals. Signals work fine, passing lamps are dead. I was reading in another forum that a Strat had the same problem, and it turned out to be a blown in-line fuse inside the headlight can. Does the 1300 have the same type harness for this add-on light bar? As I said, it's not aftermarket, it's oem. Amy help is appreciated! Thanks.

I have a Yammy passing lamps on my 1300 Tourer.
The way it's wired, they won't come on if I'm running hi-beams.
Also, on my setup, there's an actual switch on the right lite housing to turn the bar on/off.

I added a OEM light bar to my 09 V Star and all of the electrical connections were inside the headlight can. Below is from the install manual. This is for a V Star 950 so I am sure they are possibly wired similar. With that said my understanding is the switches fail from time to time.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
PASSING LAMP MOUNTS
5S7-H54A0-U0
2009 V-Star 950

Connect the two blue passing lamp harness
leads to the handlebar switch harness (6).
11. Connect the turn signals to their corresponding
connectors.
12. Locate the accessory port within the headlight
harness and remove the white plug covering it.
13. Install the accessory port harness (14) to the
accessory port.
14. Connect the positive lead of the switch to the
red connector on the accessory port harness
(14).
15. Connect the ground wire to the black connector
on the accessory port harness (14).
16. Reinstall the headlight lens using the stock
hardware.

check the wires in the headlight housing

some people twist the wires together and put on a wire nut - after a while the copper turns green and nothing is connecting

the proper way is to use a crimp connector, or to solder the wires and cover with heat shrink

I only recently learned that my passing lights have a switch right on one of the buckets. Tiny little toggle switch. Not at all obvious. Just an idea.

Please, call me Bill.

That was also my first thought. Check the switch.

Switch is fine. Fuse is fine. Turns out they used a snap lock to splice in right before the accessory connector (which is not used). Somehow the snap lock connection went bad, so I snipped off that little piece of wire, took a blade and bared the wire a bit, snapped it back together, and viola, they light up, but only when the engine is running. Happy days.

Good to hear you got it solved! Those pesky electrical connections can be tough to track down. That headlight bucket full of wire harness's can be pretty intimidating. When I installed my passing lamps I had to remove the bucket which meant all harness's out...What joy that was to re install it... While you were in there I hope you took a look at any of the other wiring mods that may have been done by the previous owner..twist and tape seems to be very popular..and that is a bad thing..Connectors and shrink wrap are cheap...

Thanks! Just a couple of those snap type connectors, nothing twisted in there. Good to go.
