V Star 950 Touring Exhaust Question

OK, I've done my due diligence and searched here for an answer without success.

I have a 2012 V Star 950 TOURING bike and want to add the Cobra Speedster Slashdown Pipes. Cobra # 2815

Has anyone put these on the 950T TOURING bike with stock bags?

I called Cobra about this and one of their tech reps said its possible that it could fit but they have never tested to see if the pipes interfere with the bags. That's why their website doesn't recommend this pipe for the TOURER.

I have a 2014 950 Tourer with stock bags and have those pipes. Just take off the stock exhaust and bolted these on. Love them.

Thanks for the replies guys !
Just ordered them.

I felt like they would work.
It amazes me that Cobra doesn't know this. I'm sure they are missing some sales because of it.

Just a suggestion, use new exhaust gaskets when you switch them out, I replaced mine and it was a good thing I did. Also if you can, and I did this on mine, use a quality header wrap on the pipes themselves. My pipes came with an outer chrome shield to prevent getting burned, and itís only for looks. You canít tell mine have been wrapped because of the chrome shields. When your pipes are double stacked (one on top of the other)they will get very hot! I wrapped my pipes before installation and it made a huge difference, and more comfortable to ride in the summer.

Thanks Keith, New gaskets on the way as well.
I'll look into the wrap.

This is crazy.
I just downloaded the installation instructions from the Cobra website for these pipes for my V Star 950 TOURER.
Bear in mind that Cobras website does not recommend these pipes for the tourer and I spoke to a tech rep at Cobra & he could not confirm they would work with the tourer.

Look at the highlited area and notice the date at the bottom of the page.

For the benefit of all here I wanted to leave some feedback.
For all you guys with 2009 - 2013 V Star 950 Tourers: the Cobra Speedster Slashdown pipes ( Cobra # 2815 ) will fit your Touring bike without any modifications.
They will clear your saddlebags with no problems and so far I have not noticed any excessive heat on the bags.

If you are a DIY'er like me - beware. If you read the reviews of these pipes, everyone likes them, but everyone notes that the installation instructions are horrendous and that is an understatement. Not enough detail. Parts are not labeled and parts of same size are inter mingled with parts of slightly different size. All of this means you will waste eons of time on trial and error fitting. Putting on and taking off parts until you finally get it figured out. It's not an impossible task just a very aggravating and time consuming one. I hope you're young and limber and can do many contortionist moves because they will be required. If you wear eyeglasses just test and see if you can see in detail things that are 2 inches away from your eyes because it is required. After hours of frustration my patience was shot. I have a few less tools now. They didn't fare well after bouncing off the concrete floor. Enough of the rant now, I think you get the picture.

As the Doobie Brothers put it: Oooooooooh Oh Oh listen to the music. Oooooooooh Oh Oh listen to the music.... for a good time.

The sound from these pipes are music to my ears. They are a bit loud but the the low bass rumble and growl are great !
