Passenger hand rails / grab bars

Hello all,

Another thread starter, hoping this gains a little more traction than my last two about the Deluxe fairing amp and windshield vent.

In my searching I came across a thread in this forum from 2015 apparently initiated by a change in laws in Texas about passengers needing to have something to hold on to. The thread went back and forth between options and opinions. I would like to get some feedback on the prior.

Has anyone installed them and what brand did you purchase? I've been trying to search both specifically for the V Star and generically. Searches typically only come up with two, Kuryakin and Drag Specialist and honestly, I haven't gone deep enough yet to see if either even makes one that will fit my bike. I have no experience with Drag Specialist and as with most Kuryakin stuff, it gets pretty good reviews, only negative I found was someone stating the black from the grips rub off on the back of their wife's pants to the point she has to make sure she wears nothing even semi light colored.

Anyone come across any other brand or have experience with these? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

The stock seat strap make it legal in Texas. Most aftermarket seat makers sell their version of the same thing. I know you are possible asking about grab rails and market is limited for a Vstar.

Lesblank, yes, I did see that in the comments of that post and yes, I am actually looking for grab bars / hand rails, whatever they are listed under, for my wife. I'm not sure how she would feel with arm rest as she is a little more than slightly claustrophobic. I'm also just getting back into road riding and was hoping to help with the balancing issue as well thinking if she had something to hold on, she would feel more stable and feel more like being attached to the bike, thus, back to 2 things to balance stopping and starting rather than me, the bike AND her.

Have you thought of a tour pack. There are many different ones out there and the back rest wraps slightly around the passenger for a secure feeling. I'm currently at our Meet and Greet and two of our forum members that are here have a similar to one shown before. I'm sure you will get other feed back but my wife loves the tour pack I have.

dotshouse, I agree with Les about a tour back. I put one on the back of my 950, and before my wife got her own bike, she rode passenger. She said it stable and it added room for additional stuff.

I guess i haven't realized how good of a passenger my wife is. All i ever have had for her besides the never used seat strap is a back rest. I think the backrest is kinda like the pedestal seat in my bass boat. Just being there gives you the feeling of where you are in relation to the bike.
