Lowering my V-star950 questions?

Hello everyone, I am planning to get my Vstar 950 this fall but I have several questions and I need help. I want to low the bike down (about 2-3 inches) but there are so many way you can do it. What the difference between the lower suspension kit ($200+) and the lower kit ($40+)? I saw lot of bikers have the lower kit ($40+). So what is the difference? Thanks

Lowering kit

Many lowering kits are only for lowering the rear wheel. Some lower the rear wheel and have a variable rate rear spring. There are also kits for front wheel. Perhaps your $200 kit contains both.

Here is an example of some. there are many others so look around.

I installed a rear lowering kit on my 09' 950 a couple of months ago. My dealer ordered it from Baron Custom Accessories for me ($65) part # BA-7540-00. It only took about 45 min. to install. The links had holes for dropping the height either one or two inches. I dropped mine two inches.
