950 seat question

Hello everyone, I have really enjoyed this forum and I have just registered. A couple of weeks ago I purchased an '09 950 Tourer (new) downsizing from a 1500cc Mean Streak. I have really enjoyed the lighter feel, low center of gravity and just overall an easier bike to ride/handle. Of'course like many of you, the stock seat leaves much to be desired and thus my question..have any of you purchased from PACIFIC COAST STAR the (potato chip seat) and if so any pluses or minus just your experience with it.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

I haven't replaced my stock seat and probably won't. I've found a guy that will redo my stock seat for much cheaper. He'll add more padding, allow me to switch leathers (if I so choose) and even combine my seat with the passenger seat (again, if I choose). My buddy paid about $70 to have his passenger seat redone and it looks fantastic. You may want to check into that before shelling out 4-5 bills.

Thank you very much for your reply.

The cost of the"potato chip" is right at $150 plus shipping, reasonable if it works. I took the plunge and ordered it, I will let everyone know how it works once I get it and have spend some time on it.

Should be receiving it UPS today, the weather will be good this weekend here in South Carolina, so I will let you all know in the next few days how the seat is.

Hey everyone, following up on my last post. I did receive the seat this past Friday and had a chance to ride Sunday. A BIG difference...much more comfortable, on the stock seat I would start feeling some discomfort after about 30 to 40 minutes of ridding with Pacific Coast Star it was well into almost two hours before I could use a break.

I will post again after having more ridding time.

I just recently purchased a 950 Tourer as well and on a scale of 1-10 I'd give the stock seat a 5 or 6. There is definate room for improvement but its not anything I can't live with for the 1st season. On tours the guys I ride with usually like to stop every 75-100 miles anyway and it well within that limit of comfort for me.
