possible purchase

hello all ... I am going to look at a 2002 1100 custom tomorrow. The bike has only 4k on it with some extras, cobra pipes, hyper charger mustang seat, filter relocation kit and a few other goodies. just wondering if the 5k price is a good one ?? thanks for any input and maybe soon i will have another great forum to turn to

Kelly Blue Book has it listed at $4000 retail depending on condition and mileage. That being said in may be a tad high in price but its low in mileage and rich in goodies. I'd negotiate down from the asking price. I bought my 2005 1100 Custom in 2007 for $4275 stock with 5K+ miles bone stock.

Stock good condition, To much money. Try to talk down.
Very seldom is money made on after market accessaries, if they want to make that money it should be removed and sold seperate.

NADA Motorcycle shows the pipes worth $150 so they are worth about 1/3 of their purchase price on the bike used, again depending on condition. Accessories are worth something but generally nowhere what they cost. They usually have an unreal value to the person who accessorized, like I paid $700 so they're worth $700.

Thanks a bunch for the responses. With all things considered as far as blue book and NADA pricing goes, these are all things that I would have put on if i bought a stock bike. So I guess that now someone else has done the work and it is ready to roll, to me it is reasonable. Prices that I have seen in my area, that is not too far off but of course I will negotiate down from the asking price. Thanks again and hopefully I will be a permanent member here

My 2000 Vstar 1100 custom had windshield, passenger backrest, luggage rack, pegs, new tire, i paid $3900 in 2009, it had 5000 miles
but now i added some stuff i bought on ebay for the most part
cobra slip on slash cut pipes--280 plus install
baron BAK/KN--300 plus install
baron ORK--240 plus install
Linby hwy bars-340 plus install
bag support-40
saddle bags/misc-80
luggage-100
driver back support-100 if i have to buy it , i am evaluating
iso handles-60
visors-30
seat sheepskin and beads---80(my economical solution, but i only get about 100 miles between stops. Mustang driver and passenger with driver backrest was about 650 I think
helmet lock relocation kit-15 i think
chrome drive shaft guard-40
brake fluid reservoir chrome cover--15
chrome license plate holder--10
throttle rocker-16
tank bag-20

It adds up, i wont get it back upon sale, so i plan to keep the bike, it has about 7300 miles on it now.
Only thing i really will need sometime in future is a better seats, either new or rebuilt, i will check around next year, but they are really expensive

Sounds like you got a good deal with the adders you have on it .

It is fun to ride though--enjoy--ride safely
