Gas Tank Pinstriping

The pinstriping on my 650 Classic is pretty worn out. Frankly, I want to get rid of it all together because I'd rather not have to deal with it.

I took a hairdryer, heated up the pinstriping on the rear wheelwell, and it came off easy! Same with the front. The gas tank? Eh.....

It appears the gas tank pinstriping is in my better condition than the front a rear wheelwells. It's as if the pinstriping was laid down and then painted over with clearcoat. No matter how much heat or how much picking, I cannot get anything up. I even took a small razor to try to dig in, but whatever I pulled up flaked off.

Has anyone removed the pinstriping from their bike before? There is definitely something different about the gas tank striping than everywhere else.

Well that puts a damper on the whole project. They should've put clear on all the other pinstripe parts then since all of mine outside of the tank look like garbage.
