Local dealer has VStar 650s for $4K

I'm wondering if that's the way to go, or if I should look for a used
bike? Seems like a good price, lower than asking price on many used
bikes I see.

Seem like used should be less than new, by quite a lot. So, I just
wondering, if I should keep looking. I live in Orange Park, FL.

Ya can ride down here 12 months of the year...real nice.

If that is new, it is a very good price. Cheapest new (09) I have seen is $4800. The best used deal I've seen is an 07 for $3400 http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/mcy/1984797805.html They are sweet little bikes,

I thought about getting one as a second bike for tooling around town. But found a used 09 HD Sportster with less than 600 miles and a year left on the factory warranty for $5000 and bought it

I use to live in Orange Park, now live at Hwy210 between Jax and St Augustine.

New or used

Dog,

You did not say what year or if new. I'm assuming used. If new that sounds good. If used you might look it up on Kelly Blue book dot com. A dealer will usually be a little higher than Kelly Blue Book.

Only a $700 difference between the Custom and Silverado, WOW!

I checked the prices on some used also and found that some people are dreamin' with the price they're asking. I think those are the people that purchased the newest model when new and paid too much. Now they want more for it used than the new one cost. Maybe they will have better luck in the Spring. End of the year closeouts are a steal.

V Stars are exellent bikes for the newbie or the experienced rider. If you live where you can use the bike year 'round, you can't go wrong with a Yamaha cruiser.
Yes, the end of the year closeouts ARE a steal but when that NOS is gone the only new 650's will be the Customs for 2011. The used bikes won't look so expensive after that as they are properly priced. You won't see any new Classics and Silverados anymore. Who knows what will happen after the Customs run their course for another year.

See, I don't think buying used, to save $600, is worth it. New you
get a warranty and the bike is brand new, right out of shipping create. New will also make it easier to sell, if I need to, in the future.

That bike has been on CraigsList for some time....no takers. Very
little demand right now for mid-sized bikes!

I agree,, funny thing though about the V-star 650, while it is a midsized engine, the wheel base and seating ergonomics are full size,, very nice bike.. Unless you are 2up loaded down for touring, you don't really need a bigger bike.

Smokin' deals! I would not consider used at these prices. Almost makes me want to buy one of these and sell my '02. Out here in CA, the local dealer wanted $3500 for a '05 classic with 20K+ miles on it. That was last spring though.

If you buy used you can get a lot of accessories cheap. That's what I'd be looking at. Accessories aren't cheap to purchase and install, Hypo Chargers, Rejetting, V & H pipes. I'd shop for used with every thing on it that I wanted, the Bikes are available you just have to look.
