Removing the muffler from 950.... Tuner or no tuner

I'm gonna take off the muffler and run it drag style but I wanna know if I absolutely MUST get a tuner to adjust for the airflow or if the stock brain box will be able to compensate and level out??? I'm listening.....

"must"? no. i'd be interested to hear how that sounds. can't imagine it would be good. others have done this on other models and complained how awful it turned out in regards to sound. correct me if i'm wrong, but won't this just turn your pipes into a poor version of a free-flowing exhaust? it will probably mess up how much torque it has in certain gears, but the bike will still run and not damage anything.

Yea I figure as long it's not gonna damage anything, I can take it off and try running it around town for a while and see. If it's not gonna work out, I'll throw it back on. With it off I view it to be the same as custom straight pipes. Infact, I don't see the difference.
