jetting and air intake after Cobra slip ons

So I have been sitting on my new 1100 classic all winter. It finally got above freezing here so I took it for a rip. The sound is fantastic but she is running lean and backfiring a little. I went to order the jet kit and the supplier recommender hyper drive or at least better air filter as well. Any recommendations would be appreciated. i dont really want to buy a hyper drive i am not a big believer in them as far as improving performance but would love others input thanks.

Modifying your intake wont help if it's running lean, that's just someone trying to sell you crap. Rejet to whatever is recommended for your setup.

If you want more power, then consider modifying your intake with pods, and rejet for that

I don't have pods but they do help. And remember if you rejet for exhaust then change the air, you have to rejet again.
Slip ons usually don't require a jet kit.. that's odd unless the baffles are removed.

Also what makes you think it's running lean? Popping on decel is most likely just from your AIS if you're running stock intake and slip ons.

Remove the ais then test drive. Ais is only needed for stock exhaust with cats.

according to the wkb with slip ons you either back out the pms till the popping stops or rejet by moving the front carb jet to th rear carg and increase the front jet one size (the jets are different sizes from the factory.

I'm running stock pipes with Vance and Hines slip ons. So should I try something with the air intake

I doubt you need to rejet for slipons, being that you use the same headers there's no real change in the airflow. Start by plugging the AIS and seeing if it fixes the popping. If it does, do the full removal.

If this doesn't fix it, you'll need to rejet.
