Clunking between gears

I just started noticing small clunking between gears or when I roll off and back on throttle. Not to bad, but i didn't notice it that much until a month or so ago. Does this need attention or am I just getting in tune with the bike to notice more and more or its little quirks?
Bike has 31000 miles

Thanks

Garage
I would give the drive shaft and the bolt that holds it all together, a very good look over. There should be no clunking at all.
Get the wheels up and check it all out, like the neck bearings can make a clunk when on and off the gas, or the drive shaft cover. A clunk is some thing lose?.

IMHO some clunking is normal - I hear some clunking when downshifting in particular. Usually when I'm not being very precise.
