Mustang Touring Pillion won't fit with Cobra Backrest

Well I got my Mustang Touring Seat and the FRICK'IN pillion pad will not fit between the Cobra Backrest Arms. Not happy.
Now I read that's it's a know issue..AAGAAGAHHHH!!!!!

Anyone resolve this without buying a new backrest?

Thanks in Advance
John

I had to make new sissy-bar brackets. I made them out of chrome and pushed the sissy bar further back, about 1 1/2 inches. Gives my wife more legroom too! I posted pics on the forum when I did it, but do you think I can find them? Good luck.

What I decided to do was mount 1/4 thick aluminium plate to the fender using the stock fender bolt holes and spacers. I will probably have to buy longer bolts. The aluminium plate will be 2/14 inches longer than the backrest plate roughly 16 1/4 inches long total. I will move the backrest back 2 1/4 inches (measured with the wife on the bike) and then mount the backrest to the aluminium plate via new tapped holes.
I will then ad the a piece of aluminium as a spacer between the backrest plate and the backrest down tube, to compensate for the extra gap. In concept it should work just fine.

I will post pics when I get at it.

cheers
