VStar new rear tire mount

Mounted new rear on my 2003 VStar but I'm having a hell of a time getting air into it. I have a 21 gal air compressor and pulled the valve stem from the wheel but the air just isn't getting into the wheel fast enough to expand the tire and catch the beads. Any suggestions?

Never mind, problem solved. The tire lube I was suing was drying out too fast so I spread a little furniture polish around both beads then wrapped a strap around the center of the new tire and ratcheted it down using a steel rod to twist the strap a couple of times. That forced the beads out a little bit. Put the air back on, moved the tire a little bit so that one side was on a seat and the gaps on the other bead were away from the valve, and it finally caught.
