'99 650 Classic Lowering & a Hand shifter

So it looks like my '99 650 Classic has a leaky right fork, and the forks are abit too spongy feeling for my taste...

I'm 262lbs, & 6'4" mainly through my legs, so I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to do progessive springs in the front, since I'm going to do the fork seals to try & fix my leaky fork... Was also going to do the Eibach rear lowering spring for the rear Mono shock... Haven't bought the parts yet, but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to do this being my height? Currently the bike's 30,000mi stock height sits comfortably, just not liking the sponginess, and want to tighten the suspension up...

Have also been thinking of going for a Hand shifter conversion(up by the tank, & not a low hung jockey style) but not knowing how that would be with the forward control extensions(stock floorboards), and Kustom Linbar engine guard(Great Deal from FleaBey)...
